Diarrhoea

                Increase frequency of defecation is called diarrhoea.

     Pathogens causing diarrhoea :

                 Bacteria:

                                       E. coli,campylobacter,salmonella,shigella

              Virus:

                                  Rotavirus,Noravirus

            Protozoa:

                          Giardia,Entamoeba,Cryptosporidium,Microspora

                   

                   Causes of nonacute diarrhoea in a traveller:

                                           1,Giardia

                                              2;Amebiasis

                                              3,Cryptosporidium

                                             4;Schistosomiasis

                                              5,Strongyloidiasis

       

                                             6,Tropical sprue

Investigations    :

                                CBC

                                 ;Stool R/M/E

                                Serum electrolytes

                                 Serum creatinine

                              Stool and blood culture

                             Sigmoidoscopy and D/R/E

      Management:

                            1 :  Corrrection of fluid balance is the mainstay of management

                            2 :IV antibiotic if need

                    3:Exclusion of chronic diseases of diarrhoea
